The Boston Gay Men's Chorus performed (free of charge) a benefit concert for "Thrive at CIGSYA", the Cape & Islands Gay & Straight Youth Alliance on April 28, 2012. Thrive at CIGSYA has been in existence since 1996 and owns a small house in downtown Hyannis. It serves as place where lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, and straight youth ages 13 to 22 can enjoy support group meetings, drop in times, and special events in a peer led, adult advised environment, free from judgment.

The group's outstanding reputation allowed us to secure many sponsors and to nearly sell out our venue. We raised over $20,000 in desperately needed funding for Thrive. Just as important, the Chorus members provided youth with wonderful role models of successful gay adults.

The actual concert was one I will never forget. The music was breathtaking, in terms of both the quality of the voices and the message they passed on through their songs. The audience was absolutely rapt; not a sound throughout the performance. We received such positive feedback from people in attendance and feel very honored that the Boston Gay Men's Chorus selected our organization for their High School Outreach Program.
