Thomas Collins (TC to friends) joined the chorus in October of 2011. He grew up in Abington, MA and has a BS in Management Information Systems from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). He spends his day working as an Assistant Director in the WPI IT department. “I joined the chorus to meet new people and get back to singing. I’ve been singing in some fashion since I was in pre-school (my mother has the blackmail recordings to prove it). I spent 7 years as a student and staff member singing with the WPI Men’s Glee Club. I was looking for something that would provide both the quality of the sound and the feeling of family that the Glee Club provided. BGMC provides both of those.” TC is single.
“This is my third year in the chorus and it has been an incredible experience. The number of new friends I’ve made is amazing. There are people I have in my life now that I can’t ever imagine not knowing. Additionally, the opportunities I’ve had singing with the chorus have been incredibly rewarding.”
“My favorite part of the Spring Concert is the intensity of it. This is where we take some time to talk about issues and experiences that are both universal and deeply personal. I saw Alexander’s House in Denver, CO at the GALA festival and so much of it reminded me a lot of my Uncle Jimmy who had passed away just three months prior. I was moved by the performance of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, DC. When I found out we were going to be doing the show, I had to be a part of it.”
