The Boston Gay Men’s Chorus has been monitoring the evolving response and guidance from local and national officials regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus). We feel that it’s important that we coordinate our response in alignment with the efforts of state and local public health professionals.
Governor Baker in his press conference today has issued a state of emergency and announced a number of measures designed to curb the spread of this virus, including the recommendation to cancel nonessential public gatherings. New England Conservatory has issued a similar decision.
As a result of these actions we have made the difficult decision to cancel our March 14 and March 15 concerts. This is the first time in our 38 years we’ve had to take this action.
If you are a ticket holder, you will receive a separate communication from the office with more information about your tickets.
In the days ahead Maestro Reuben will be reflecting on how best to bring the message of this concert to the stage. We will let you know the specifics, but we are committed to bringing this message of love and acceptance in the face of ignorance and bullying our stage.
During this challenging time, the message of our music is needed more than ever. You can enjoy nearly 400 videos on our YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/BGMC1982.
We ask you to please take care of yourselves and others. Please follow CDC guidelines for preventing the spread of this virus and seek information from knowledgeable and trusted sources. When this is over, we will sing:
“I will sing you a song no one sang to me, may it keep you in good company.”
