Boston Gay Men’s Chorus Presents “Friends of Dorothy”: A Celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride and Resilience

Boston, MA – May 6, 2024 – Boston Gay Men’s Chorus (BGMC) is thrilled to announce its upcoming concert, “Friends of Dorothy,” a spectacular celebration of LGBTQ+ pride and resilience through the power of music. Performances will be held on June 1st at 8:00PM, June 2nd at 3:00PM at New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall in Boston and on June 15th at 7:30PM at Groton Hill Music Center in Groton, MA.

“Friends of Dorothy” is a vibrant and uplifting musical journey that pays tribute to the LGBTQ+ community’s rich history, culture, and contributions. The concert’s title, long used as a euphemism for being part of the LGBTQ+ community and a nod to the iconic figure from “The Wizard of Oz,” encapsulates the spirit of unity and empowerment that defines the LGBTQ+ experience.

Under the artistic direction of Rueben Reynolds, Boston Gay Men’s Chorus will deliver a mesmerizing performance featuring a diverse repertoire of Broadway showstoppers, contemporary hits, and timeless classics. The concert promises to be a moving and joyous experience, showcasing the chorus’s exceptional vocal talents and unwavering commitment to artistic excellence.

“We are immensely proud to present ‘Friends of Dorothy,’ a concert that celebrates the indomitable spirit and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community,” said Reuben Reynolds, Music Director. “Through the power of music, we aim to inspire, uplift, and unite audiences in a shared celebration of love, diversity, and equality.”

In addition to delivering a captivating musical experience, “Friends of Dorothy” serves as a platform for advocacy and social change. Boston Gay Men’s Chorus remains dedicated to fostering a more inclusive and equitable society through the transformative power of music.
