Kevin Wilson

Vocal Coach

Kevin Wilson’s teaching philosophy is shaped by his extensive 20-year study of anatomy, physiology, historical pedagogies, voice and speech, and acting. He aims to help students and teachers develop a deep physical and emotional connection with their voice, encouraging them to overcome fear and take risks while integrating text with emotional stimuli from the body. His ultimate goal is to empower singers to express themselves purely and authentically in any genre. As a renowned clinician, adjudicator, and lecturer, Kevin travels the world, offering masterclasses on vocal health, musical theater, and classical pedagogies. He shares his expertise in vocal adjustments for various singing opportunities, ranging from classical to contemporary musical theater, in workshops such as “Securing Belt, Mix, and Legit for Musical Theatre,” “Foundations of Voice Teaching,” and “Navigating the Filter.” Kevin’s impact is evident through the achievements of his students, who have appeared in numerous Broadway productions, national tours, regional theaters, and prestigious venues like the Metropolitan Opera and Boston Symphony Orchestra. They have also been recognized as finalists and winners in esteemed competitions, receiving multiple regional nominations and awards for their performances. Since joining the Boston Conservatory’s voice faculty in 2008, Kevin has made significant contributions, including the establishment of the Masters of Music in Vocal Pedagogy and the Masters of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre Vocal Pedagogy programs. Currently, he serves as the director of Vocal Pedagogy and an Associate Professor of Voice, teaching a range of courses and leading the conservatory’s annual Vocal Pedagogy Professional Workshop. Kevin’s academic journey includes a Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy from the New England Conservatory and a Bachelor of Music in Voice from the University of Central Oklahoma. He has also pursued additional studies in voice, vocal anatomy and physiology, and voice and speech techniques. Kevin attributes his teaching inspiration to a lineage of voice teachers, particularly his first teacher Tony Gonzalez, whom he acknowledges for laying the foundation and nurturing his passion for teaching.
